More than 80 Moroccan international freight trucks are experiencing significant delays at the Rosso border crossing between Mauritania and Senegal, disrupting the flow of exports destined for several West African countries.
The Rosso crossing has become the main alternative route following security constraints affecting the road to Mali. However, the limited processing capacity at the border has resulted in long waiting times and growing congestion.
According to representatives of Morocco’s international transport sector, the delays are raising concerns over the condition of perishable goods, including fresh agricultural products and seafood, while increasing operating costs for exporters and transport companies.
Transport professionals are calling for measures to improve border procedures and facilitate the movement of Moroccan trucks, warning that prolonged disruptions could affect trade flows between Morocco and West African markets.
